About Compass Community Church
Compass Community Church Navarre FL is a new church plant of the Evangelical Free Church in America (EFCA), a movement of evangelical churches committed to planting healthy churches among all peoples (efca.org). Our community is rapidly growing and there is certainly the need for more churches in Navarre, but even more, there is the need for more evangelical churches in Navarre.
In looking for churches in the Navarre FL area, a group of four families with roots in the EFCA met and began to talk about planting the kind of church that they would want to attend. They agreed that they wanted to plant an evangelical church in Navarre committed to making disciples through the spread of the gospel. They wanted to plant a community church in Navarre one whose ministry went beyond serving itself to serving the community with the love of Christ. They knew that they wanted to plant a Bible church in Navarre, a church committed to teaching the Bible with the goal of raising up mature disciples who make disciples.
Through the EFCA, they connected with Pastor Michael Bannon and asked him about planting a church in Navarre FL. Pastor Michael had served in a Bible church in southeast Florida and in a community church in southwest Florida. Sensing God’s calling in this, he and his wife moved to Navarre. Church-planting pastors are bi-vocational and, providentially, Michael was hired as the writer for the Faith page of the Navarre Press, a job that has helped him get to know other churches in the Navarre FL area.
